Deer Run Road Explosive Devices

On today's date at approximately 10:26 am Middleton Police received a report from a resident at 92 Deer Run Road indicating that 3 explosive devices were located at the residence.  At the time of the call the police knew that the devices were left at the residence by a former tenant and they were not placed there with malicious intent.

Police responded to the residence.  The residence was evacuated and police obtained photographs of the devices.  Assistance was requested from New Hampshire State Police Troop A to assist in closing a perimeter and the New Hampshire State Police Bomb Squad.

Middleton Fire and Rescue were staged at the intersection of Route 153 and Deer Run Road as a precaution.

Photographs of the device were sent electronically to the New Hampshire State Police.  Once we identified what the device was, a safety perimeter was clearly defined.

The devices are pictured below:

A reverse 911 phone call was placed to alert the town residences to the call and request that folks directly in the neighborhood shelter in place and other residents avoid the area.  This call was placed on behalf of the police department by the E911 center in Concord.

The Reverse 911 call is below:

A phone call was place to the Farmington Schools  to ensure that no kindergarten students were scheduled to travel to the area.  We were advised by the school that no students were scheduled

The New Hampshire State Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene and safely removed the devices.  Once the devices were removed, all emergency personnel were cleared.  A second call from the 911 center was made to area residences indicating that the scene was safe.

At this point we are in the very preliminary stages.  We will review the evidence to determine if a crime was committed and by whom.

We would like to thank the public for their cooperation during the scene and allowing us to render a dangerous scene safely.

No further information will be released at this time
